Berdzor 2019 Aligote Dry White Wine Armenia
Berdzor 2019 Aligoté Dry White Wine – Armenia
An elegant white from the historic vineyards of Berdzor, rooted in the soul of the Armenian highlands.
Description & Tasting Notes:
The Berdzor 2019 Aligoté Dry White Wine is a rare Armenian expression of the Aligoté grape, grown in the high-altitude vineyards of Berdzor, a region steeped in tradition and nestled along the famed Lachin Corridor connecting Goris to Artsakh. Once known as Lachin during the Soviet era, Berdzor’s lush valleys and fertile soils have long been a cradle for Armenian winemaking.
Crafted in the spirit of ancient Armenian wine art, this Aligoté captures the essence of the land where the people celebrated the Navasard feast with songs by Komitas, echoing through the valley as the vineyards were harvested and pressed.
In the glass, this wine shines a pale golden straw color. On the nose, it offers fresh aromas of green apple, pear skin, and a touch of white blossoms, with underlying notes of wet stone and citrus peel. The palate is crisp and vibrant, with lively acidity, flavors of lemon zest, crunchy orchard fruit, and a refreshing mineral finish that reflects its mountainous origin.
Key Highlights:
- Made from 100% Aligoté, a French variety that thrives in Armenian terroir
- Grown in the historic vineyards of Berdzor, near the Lachin Corridor
- Bright, zesty, and clean with layered minerality
- Crafted using traditional Armenian winemaking methods with a modern touch
Food Pairing:
Pairs beautifully with grilled trout, goat cheese salads, zucchini fritters, and Armenian mezze like basturma and tolma. Also excellent with oysters and other shellfish.
Serving Tip:
Serve well-chilled (45–50°F) to enhance its crisp acidity and aromatic freshness.
Perfect For:
Fans of unoaked Chablis or Vermentino looking for something distinctive, vibrant, and terroir-driven. A compelling choice for wine lovers curious about Armenia’s growing diversity in white wines.
